The daughter of Päivätär , also known as Kuutar the Goddess of the sun and the moon. Mythology states that she was exiled to Earth because of her ability to remove all sorrow, displeasing the queen of hell.

The mother of Noiduttu. She endowed Noiduttu with her gifts before she was exiled to Earth. She watches over her but can not directly communicate with her. She regrets having to exile her daughter but she knows it was the only way to save her life.
The giant of legend in the Kalevala. Recruited by Päivätär to watch over Noiduttu when she realizes what is happening to her daughter. He takes on a smaller guise to exist on Earth without notice but he is larger and stringer than any human, and can call back his original form at any time. A special ring given to him by Päivätär allows him to communicate with her at any time.
The queen of hell. Offended by Noiduttu and her ability to dismiss all sorrow, which she feels is her domain alone. As the source of all anguish she sought to have Noiduttu killed, but was convinced to have her exiled instead.
